Biobed® EGSB Plant for Starch Processing Plant

Client

Cargill is a large multinational corporation providing agricultural commodities. The company is operating a starch and malt processing factory in Efremov, Russia where Biothane provides anaerobic treatment for the plant's wastewater streams.

Treatment Process

The produced wastewater from the production process is fed into a buffer tank where the liquid content is homogenously mixed with caustics. After a retention time of 6.5h, the wastewater is pumped into the conditioning tank. It is thus prepared for anaerobic treatment by regulating the pH-value, the temperature as well as by adding chemical nutrient dosing.

The anaerobic process, by means of bacterial conversion, takes place in the Biobed® EGSB reactor with a designed COD removal efficiency of 70%. The settlers at the top of the reactor separate the biomass from the biogas and the treated water. A biogas flare burns the produced biogas from the conversion process.
