mcSEAD
(Membrane Coupled Enhanced Anaerobic Digestion)
This technology couples a membrane system with our SEAD Process for "self-contained" sludge concentration. Drum thickeners, gravity belt thickening and polymer addition are eliminated utilizing this process, and life cycle costs are significantly reduced.
Digesting sludge is continuously withdrawn from the reactor and sent to a membrane separation system. Semi-permeable membranes retain virtually all of the TSS, leaving a clear permeate that is very low in TS, VS and COD. Concentrated solids are returned to the reactor to maintain a desired solids retention time. Anaerobically digested sludge is withdrawn from the concentrate flow at a concentration that will not require further thickening prior to final dewatering.
